Abandoned Target stores: 5 years later

Today’s post will be covering a few well preserved Target stores that are still abandoned 5 years after the company left Canada. Some of these locations are still listed on Google Maps as closed if you look up Target. Many of those abandoned stores are located in dead malls or smaller community malls, which make them harder to re-tenant.

You’re not fooling anyone. They only painted the store green in the last 2 years or so and the store never got a new tenant after Target left. This Target won’t get a new tenant anytime soon because there are plans to redevelop the mall and plus the former Target wing of the mall is dead.

This Target hasn’t been touched since they left. It’s a nice treat to see if you are in the area. There are some noticeable label scars on the building. It’s one of the better preserved stores in the area.

Here’s another well preserved location. This one seems to be in good shape aside from the repaint and has its entrance exposed complete with target decals as of when the street view was taken.

I find it interesting that there are still quite a few abandoned Targets out there. Most of them that I know of got demolished or repurposed into something else.

Until the next post, DZ

  1. I agree with you that it's interesting to see abandoned Targets that still haven't been retenanted in Canada. Frankly, for me it's kind of amazing to see any abandoned Targets at all, since they're not quite as common in the US -- at least, not newer looking locations like all of these ones, anyway.

    1. Same here. It's not surprising to me seeing all these abandoned Targets because most of them are in small malls/plazas that make them harder to re-tenant
